The African Literature Association Travel Grant Awards
The African Literature Association invites applications for three ALA Travel Grant Awards, worth $1500 each, for Africa-based members traveling to participate in the ALA annual conference at the University of Nairobi, Kenya. The conference will be held from June 25-28, 2025. Priority is given to early career applicants. Please note that the grant is awarded during the Awards ceremony at the conference, and cannot be accessed in advance.

Sandra Barkan Travel Grant Award DUE March 15, 2025
As part of the ALA's 50th anniversary celebrations, we are excited to invite applications for two Sandra Barkan Travel Grant Awards, worth $1500 each, for members who are based outside the African continent and plan to participate in the ALA conference at the University of Nairobi, Kenya. The conference will be held from June 25-28, 2025.
The awards are due to the generous donation by Professor Sandra Barkan, a devoted member of the ALA. One award is reserved for an Assistant Professor or Non-Tenure-Track faculty member who has taught African literature for at least two years, the other for a Graduate Student. Please note that the grant is awarded during the Awards ceremony at the conference and cannot be accessed in advance.
